Mrs. Lydia Torrez

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Torrez moved to Dallas at age 6, and considers Dallas her home.

Lydia Torrez has over 40 years experience as an educator working for DISD and the Dallas Diocesan Catholic Schools.

Mrs. Torrez received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Dallas Baptist University in Elementary Education with a certification in K - 8 and a master's degree in Educational Leadership. She has served  in various capacities over her career: as  middle school math teacher, assistant principal, principal and as the director of development. She is the recipient of various awards: Cub Master of the Year for St. Cecilia Parish, Alumni of the Year for St Cecilia Catholic School, Educator of the Year for the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, Educator of the Year for Dallas Pro-Life,  Person of the Year for the Notre Dame Club of Dallas, and the recipient of the Voyager Award from Bishop Dunne Catholic School for her contribution to education. She is currently working on a certification to become a yoga instructor for children.

Mrs. Torrez is very comfortable in the St. Cecilia School community because this is home. She and her husband are parishioners of St. Cecilia Church and she is a graduate of the school as well as their children.
