Safe Environment Training
Getting Started: Safe Environment Training
At St. Cecilia Catholic School, creating a safe and nurturing environment for every student is our top priority. To uphold the highest standards of safety, all volunteers must complete the Safe Environment training and clearance process before participating in any school activities.
This essential process, established by the Diocese of Dallas, ensures that every member of our school community is equipped to support and protect our children. Through training, interviews, reference checks, and background screenings, we work together to maintain a culture of vigilance, integrity, and care.
Volunteer Requirements: Keeping Our Students Safe
At St. Cecilia Catholic School, we are deeply grateful for the time and dedication of our volunteers. To ensure a safe and nurturing environment for every child, all volunteers, new and returning, must complete the following steps:
New Volunteers
Training Video
Begin by watching a required training video that outlines key principles for maintaining a safe environment. This video provides essential guidance on recognizing and preventing risks, and emphasizes the importance of vigilance in safeguarding our students.
In-Person Interview
After completing the video, new volunteers attend a brief in-person interview. This allows us to connect personally, answer questions, and ensure clarity around roles and responsibilities.

Character Reference Checks
We contact references who can speak to the volunteer’s character and reliability, helping us build a team rooted in trust and integrity.
Background Check
All new volunteers must complete a comprehensive background check, which is renewed annually to maintain compliance with our safety standards.
🔄 Returning Volunteers
Annual Training Renewal
Each year, returning volunteers must complete updated Safe Environment training. This includes watching a revised training video that reflects any changes in policies and reinforces our shared commitment to child safety.
Annual Background Check
To ensure continued safety, returning volunteers also undergo an annual background check. This helps us stay informed and maintain a secure environment for all students.
