Safe Environment Training
Protecting Our Students Starts With Us
Creating a safe school community is a shared responsibility. Whether you're volunteering in the classroom, chaperoning a field trip, coaching a team, or helping at a school event, every volunteer must complete the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment clearance process before serving.
These requirements help ensure that everyone who interacts with our students is properly trained, screened, and committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled environment.

New Volunteers
Welcome! We're excited to have you join our volunteer community.
Before volunteering, please complete the following steps:
1. Complete Safe Environment Training
Watch the required Safe Environment training video through VIRTUS. This training provides important guidance on recognizing concerns, preventing abuse, and creating a safe environment for every child.
2. Attend an In-Person Interview
Meet briefly with a member of our staff to review the volunteer process, answer questions, and complete your onboarding.
3. Submit Character References
Provide the required references so we can complete the Diocese of Dallas screening process.
4. Complete Your Background Check
All volunteers must successfully complete a criminal background screening before serving.

Character Reference Checks
We contact references who can speak to the volunteer’s character and reliability, helping us build a team rooted in trust and integrity.
Background Check
All new volunteers must complete a comprehensive background check, which is renewed annually to maintain compliance with our safety standards.
Returning Volunteers
Thank you for continuing to serve our St. Cecilia community!
To remain eligible to volunteer, returning volunteers must complete the following each year:
Annual Safe Environment Training
Complete the required annual training update through VIRTUS.
Annual Background Screening
Complete the annual background check required by the Diocese of Dallas.
Before You Volunteer
Please remember:
Safe Environment clearance must be fully approved before volunteering.
Volunteers who have not completed the process may not participate in school activities involving students.
Processing times vary, so we encourage families to begin the process well in advance of the event or activity they wish to volunteer for.
