He shares his compassion, humor, generosity, intellect, knowledge, and boundless energy with those he serves. For more than 45 years, he has played a critical role in the formation of thousands of alumni, while he is also the longest-serving administrator in the School’s history.
As president of Jesuit Dallas, Earsing is charged with establishing policies, practices, and procedures to be maintained in and by the Institution. He is also considered Director of the Work by the Society of Jesus, through which he is entrusted to fulfill the School’s apostolic mission.
During his tenure, the School orchestrated its two largest-ever fundraising campaigns; constructed new facilities for academics, athletics, the performing arts, and spiritual formation; expanded Jesuit’s commitment to student enrichment, global education, and service; and established innovative academic programs while developing dual-credit opportunities for Jesuit Dallas students.
In 2022, Earsing celebrated Jesuit’s distinction as one of five private schools in the country to be named a National Merit Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. That same year, the Jesuit Dallas Museum became the first fine arts museum housed inside a school to be nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
Earsing arrived at Jesuit Dallas in 1978 as a teacher of chemistry and world history. His tenure at the School has included serving as director of community service; senior counselor; and assistant principal for discipline for 14 years. Prior to being named as the 13th president and first lay president in the history of Jesuit Dallas in 2011, Earsing served as the Institution’s first lay principal for 15 years, during which he oversaw tremendous growth in programming and enrollment.
Earsing’s expertise in education is broadly recognized as reflected by the boards on which he has offered counsel and wisdom including the Principal’s Center Advisory Board at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Board Chair of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association, the Commission on Research and Development for Jesuit Schools, and the Texas Association of Non-Public Schools. He has been published in prestigious education journals including Iowa Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and National Staff Development Council Journal of Staff Development.
In 2023, Earsing was appointed to serve on the School Sisters of Notre Dame Commission for the Central Pacific Province. As a Ministry Commissioner, he will have the privilege and responsibility to facilitate, nourish and sustain Blessed Theresa’s charism through work with the SSND ministries.
