Mrs. Julie Lopez

Mrs. Lopez was born in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, an hour from Philadelphia. Her family moved to southeastern Kentucky, and then to Beeville, in South Texas, when she was in grade school. She then moved Garland when she was in high school and graduated from Bishop Lynch High School. As a child, Mrs. Lopez always wanted to be a teacher because she was influenced by many wonderful elementary teachers.

In continuing her Catholic education, she attended the University of Dallas in Irving, where she received a B.A. in History. She later earned her A.M.I. certification in Montessori from the Washington Montessori Institute in Washington, D.C. After completing these degrees, she settled in Dallas and pursued a post bachelor’s degree at UD. For the last 28 years, Mrs. Lopez has worked in the field of education, first teaching Montessori and then working at Jesuit College Preparatory in the Alumni and Development Offices. Twenty-two years ago she was hired at St. Cecilia as a teacher. She taught for nine years, teaching First Grade, Kindergarten, and opening the PreK 3 program. Mrs. Lopez also coached volleyball and gymnastics, and was in charge of the Speech and Drama Club. Thirteen years ago, Mrs. Lopez began working in the business office to assist in the bookkeeping.

She is excited for this school year because of all the wonderful changes, positive atmosphere and the willingness of the faculty, old and new to SCS, to jump in and do what is in the best interest of the school as a whole.

Mrs. Lopez has been married for 15 years and has 2 daughters. As a family, they attend Blessed Sacrament where she is a Lay Eucharistic Minister, her husband is an Usher, and her daughters are Altar Servers. In her spare time she enjoys doing genealogy research and traveling.
