ST. CECILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH:
tragedy and a miracle
St. Cecilia Catholic Church was founded in 1933. The original church building was dedicated in 1949. On August 17, 2007, a lightning strike started a fire that destroyed the church building. That winter, a rebuilding campaign began. On November 22, 2009, Bishop Kevin Farrell hosted the ground-breaking ceremony for the new church. In November of 2011, the new church building was dedicated.
Miraculously, the only relic not seriously damaged in the fire, was the original statue of the martyred St. Cecilia. It was restored and is pictured below.
