Mrs. Marie Garcia

Mrs. Garcia has shared her passion for music and education for more than fifteen years. Born and raised in Texas, she began her musical training in elementary school with violin and piano lessons in addition to singing in a Catholic Schoolchoir. In high school, she began teaching and has continued to educate students every year since then.

While studying at Southwestern University, Marie continued to lead musical classes and give private piano and string lessons in Georgetown, TX. There she graduated with a B.A. in music performance, Summa cum laude. She went on to study Sacred Music and receive a M.A. in choral conducting at the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, she taught and directed for the Notre Dame Children’s Choir and sang for the Notre Dame Vocal which toured throughout Mexico, South America and Italy.

After graduating, she moved back to Texas to teach full time for two years at Saint Paul the Apostle where she directed choir for mass and organized all performance events for the school including: musicals, talent shows, and special holidays.

She looks forward to sharing her love of music through weekly masses and classes at St. Cecilia, who is the patron saint of music. She believes that creating music is a spiritual endeavor, and that God desires to hear us:

“Be filled with the spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.”

Marie lives in Dallas with her husband Arturo, a musician too, and with their two singing pet cockatiels Aussie and Shakira. They enjoy dancing and making music together.
