What are we doing now?
Silver Awards: Silver is the highest award a Cadette can earn. We'll have two silver award projects.
The first project will be by three of our eighth graders and will honor the flag by sewing flag ceremony red sashes and making kits with instruction cards to outfit troops they train to perform flag ceremonies and to perform retirement ceremonies.
The second project will be by the remaining 8 cadettes who have been trained as archery junior rangers and have begun teaching other Girl Scouts archery and help them earn their archery patches.
General Information about our troop:
Who can join: This troop includes 7th& 8th Grade Cadettes for the school year 2011-12. Registration was in Spring 2011.
Girls need not attend St. Cecilia School, nor do they need to be Catholic or parishioners of St. Cecilia.
Meetings
-
Two Fridays per month: Additional fun or service events will be added to our standing meetings on.
-
Meeting time: Normally we will hold our meetings immediately after school. If there are any changes, we will notify the parents.
-
Leader or Girl Scout adult volunteer will pick girls up from (St. Cecilia) after school pick-up line if prior permission is given, or parents may bring the girls as soon after school as they are able to.
-
Meeting place: will vary depending on the Badge/project we are working on. Unless noted otherwise, we will meet in the SCS teacher's lounge or the computer lab.
|
Book: Please purchase the Girl Scout Cadette Badgebook, and if you can, the accompanying handbook.
You may purchase at any of the (GS offices which have stores), or check the Half Priced Bookstore - sometimes they have these used, as well as garage sales, and thrift stores.
Uniforms: Girl Scouts has enacted a new guideline. As of October 2008, an official sash or vest worn with white shirt and khaki pants or skirts is required when girls participate in ceremonies or officially represent The Girl Scout Movement.
Principal Mrs. Barbosa is allowing scouts to wear their uniform on meeting days. We encourage the girls to wear a vest to all our activities so they'll be able to proudly display their earned badges and fun patches.

View our plea to JoAnn's to be a corporate sponsor for the sewing materials for the first project. They turned us down, but Home Fabrics & Rugs gave us a great deal and even pre-cut the fabric for us... so we've been able to commence our sewing project!
