Welcome to St. Cecilia Middle School

Known around school as Mrs. Y., I am Mrs. Yarger, and I am excited to be returning for the 2016-17 school year. I look forward to reconnecting with returning students and getting to know students new to St Cecilia and to Middle School.

This year, I will be teaching English Language Arts, which includes reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. We will have one class that focuses on reading, and one that emphasizes writing. The other areas of grammar and vocabulary will work into both of these classes.

I earned my B.A. from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, in 1973; my M.L.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1975; and, most recently,  I earned a M.S. in Reading from Texas A&M University, Commerce, in 2003.

I began my career as a Children's Librarian for a large public library system in Maryland. When we moved to Texas in 1979, I worked for the Arlington (TX) Public Library. In addition, I have worked in professional libraries at the Urban Institute, the National Education Association, and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

Before coming to St. Cecilia, I worked at a private school in Arlington as a librarian and teacher. I have taught English, Math, and Religion at the elementary level, and, at the high school level, A.P. History and A.P. English Language and A.P. English Literature.

I am looking forward to another great year here at St. Cecilia!
